City Florence Tours invites you to discover one of Florence's most visited museums, accompanied by an expert local guide. During this 1-hour guided tour, you will admire Michelangelo's David, one of the most iconic symbols of Florence, Italy, and the Renaissance.
Your experience begins at our office, located just a few meters from the Gallery. Once you arrive at the museum, you will enter with your guide and start exploring one of Florence's most fascinating collections. At the end of the guided tour, you may remain inside the museum and take all the time you need to appreciate the artworks at your own pace.
Your certified guide will lead you through the Gallery and explain the history, techniques, and stories behind its most important works. The highlight of the visit is Michelangelo's David, created between 1501 and 1504. The monumental marble sculpture stands about 5.17 metres tall and depicts the biblical hero before facing Goliath.
Thanks to its extraordinary attention to detail and powerful expressiveness, David is considered one of the greatest masterpieces in Western art and one of the enduring symbols of the Renaissance.
The museum has much more to offer than David. During the tour, your guide will introduce you to its remarkable collection of sculptures, including works related to Michelangelo.
You will also discover the Museum of Musical Instruments, the collection of gold-background paintings, and the Hall of the Prisoners, where you can admire Michelangelo's famous unfinished sculptures originally intended for the monumental tomb of Pope Julius II.
